A U-Tube Heat Exchanger is a type of shell-and-tube heat exchanger designed to efficiently transfer heat between two fluids. • U-Shaped Tubes: The tubes are bent into a U-shape, with both ends attached to a single tube sheet. This design allows one end to expand and contract freely with temperature fluctuations, reducing thermal stress.
• Tube Material: Often made from materials like stainless steel, copper, titanium, or alloys to handle corrosive environments and high temperatures.
• Tube Diameter: Common diameters range from 3/4 inch to 1 inch, selected based on fluid flow rate and heat transfer requirements.
• Tube Length: Standard lengths can vary, commonly from 6 to 20 feet, depending on the heat exchanger size and application.

• Shell Material: Typically carbon steel, stainless steel, or alloy materials based on the application, pressure, and temperature requirements.
• Baffles: Installed inside the shell to direct fluid flow across the tubes for improved heat transfer and to prevent tube vibrations. The baffle spacing and type (e.g., segmental, disc-and-doughnut) are designed based on fluid dynamics.
• Shell Side Inlet and Outlet: The fluid in the shell side flows perpendicular to the tubes for optimal heat exchange.

• Single Tube Sheet: One tube sheet supports both ends of the U-shaped tubes, which simplifies the design and allows for easy maintenance.
